More about Harlow

Harlow is a former Mark One New Town built after World War II to ease overcrowding in London and the surrounding area. Designed to respect the existing landscape, the development incorporate the market town of Harlow and the villages of Great Parndon, Latton, Tye Green, Potter Street, Churchgate Street, Little Parndon, and Netteswell. Since becoming a new town, Harlow has continued to go through several stages of expansion, starting with the building of the Sumners and Katherines estates. More recently in 2011, the government announced the creation of an enterprise zone in the town, which consists of two separate sites under development - Templefields and London Road. Although the original intentions for Harlow's economy was manufacturing-based, it has since adjusted and is now home to telecommunications company Nortel, aerospace firm Raytheon, and Public Health England, who bought a vacant site from GlaxoSmithKline in 2017.
